Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is calling for the immediate banning of visas for “travelers and tourists from any country with a significant ISIS or al-Qaeda presence.”

In a Wednesday op-ed for TIME, the Republican presidential candidate echoed his call to halt the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the United States in light of last week’s terror attacks in Paris.

“Some misguided Republicans think we should just ban Syrian Muslims from coming to the U.S.,” Huckabee wrote, in a jab at presidential rivals Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

“But terrorists will say anything to infiltrate America — including lying about their religion. Trusting the Obama administration to process these refugees puts American lives in danger.”

Huckabee called for immediately securing the United States’ southwestern border and building a fence along there with Mexico. He wrote, “A country that cannot control its borders is not a country.”

“Regardless of what this White House says, we are not at war with militant Methodists, extremist Episcopalians, or radicalized Roman Catholics,” Huckabee wrote. “We are at war with Islamic jihadists. And it’s time we identify our enemy by name and start waging a winning war.”
